Local Soprano Madeleine Smith joins the orchestra for Bach’s stunning yet rarely-heard “Alles mit Gott und nichts ohn’ ihn,” BWV 1127. Manfredini’s Christmas Concerto and Händel’s Water Music Suite No. 2 highlight the elegance and craftsmanship that shaped the musical language of the 18th century.
Seattle-based recorder virtuoso Bryan Boehnke joins us James Oswald’s Sonata on Scots Tunes blends classical form with traditional folk melodies. The evening concludes with Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in G major, featuring BSO assistant concertmaster Taylor DeCastroa in a virtuosic piece that brings the ensemble together in a spirited finale.
